Partial Lockdown Day 96 (Monday)
Curfew
So, today is the last day the borders are closed. Starting tomorrow people can come to the islands under certain restrictions. Surely the curfew will be gone, right? It’s hard finding this information though. Not that it matters, I mean I don’t go out between 2a and 5a. . .
Work
I started before I even got my coffee. I had to unlock a villa so the housekeeper could start early. Not only that, but when I got there I remembered the hot water was turned off. I had to take the time (and find a tool) to turn it on. Later in the day was doing my usual walkthroughs, a little payroll, and meeting with the maintenance guy at another villa. After the hour-long meeting I had to go drive the housekeepers around. Then more meeting time about that house. Not a particularly busy day but not a lot of downtime.
Tuesday
Curfew
Oh yeah, today’s the first day tourists are allowed in. I wonder if things will be going to shit soon . . . Hopefully I’m prepared if there’s another lockdown. Of course, if there is it won’t happen for at least a week or two probably.
Tortola
Had to go to Tortola today to got up the back. Running out of petty cash, so don’t have enough on hand to pay the employees. The ferry ride wasn’t bad, though this time I brought my Switch to entertain me. The line at the bank moved along pretty swiftly. Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper visit to the bank if everything went right. This time it was my handwriting, I didn’t write my name legibly enough for the teller. Luckily though I was out in time to catch the earlier ferry instead of having to wait an hour for the one I expected.
Home
Ugh, the internet has been complete shit today! I mean, in general, not just here. Like, it was slow when I was browsing on my phone in the bank. It’s crap on my laptop, whether I’m on the VPN, or connected to the second box I have at my house temporarily. Right now, my Chromecast isn’t working, and I think it’s because the internet is so shitty. It’s really troublesome. Like, I’m getting .5Mb/s down. . . Up is like 10Mb/s!
Wednesday
Accounting
Finally getting to the month-end accounting. Only a day late, not that it matters much. Of course, it doesn’t help that I’m constantly being interrupted. Eventually, after a couple of long hours, I was able to get it all done. I did almost miss at least one thing, and there was a bunch of rentals still in QuickBooks for last month that had been rescheduled. In the end I prevailed, as I always do!
Sunset Cruise
For some unknown reason, I decided to go along on a free sunset cruise. I’m sure I had ample time and opportunity to back out, but I figured I should go. Now that I’ve arrived I feel like fleeing. But I did end up going through with it, and I’m glad I did. It turned into more of a sunset mooring than a sunset cruise due to technical issues. There was a very sweet puppy on board, and the human company wasn’t bad either. I think it did end a bit early, though I left when everyone else did. Ended up giving a ride home to another participant whose car broke down on the way to the event.
Thursday
Relaxing
Not a whole lot of work on the radar, so I took today off. Spent some time puttering around the house, played video games, watched TV and movies, etc. I mean, I did a little bit of work because it’s unavoidable, but there’s no accounting, nothing pressing.
Game Development
I didn’t spent a whole lot of time working on the game today, but I did jump back in. I’m losing my motivation, maybe I should go and work on another new game or pick up one of the older ones. I do have a bunch of stuff I can do in those, it wouldn’t hurt. The real problem is that I’m lacking the motivation.
Curfew
So yeah, it seems the government has extended the curfew for another two weeks! I really don’t see how a curfew for three hours a day has any effect on the spread of the virus. It’s just so dumb.
Pool Day (Friday)
Pools
Just pools today, and they were mostly good. The only one that took much work was my nemesis and that was surprisingly easy too.
Saturday
Work
Another early day, this time I had to head down to my nemesis and unlock it at 8am for an internet install. I think I was there for a good couple hours while the guy did his work. Course, I had to help him out a bit too, but it’s good that it’s done! I also had to run out at one point to tighten a couple screws. The shower handles were loose at one house and the tenant couldn’t turn off the water. Other than that, the rest of the day was nothing, no more work, just relaxing.
Sunday
Relaxing
Just another Sunday, no work outside of a couple messages from the intern. Spent the day playing games and watching TV and movies. Of course, the messages were an annoyance. It’s hard to relax when someone messages you every couple of hours with something that can wait till the next day.
