Monday
Accounting
I did it, I actually did it. I had about three weeks worth of stuff I hadn’t put into QuickBooks and now I’m mostly done. It really didn’t take all that long to do either. It’s strange how much anxiety the accounting causes me. Maybe it’s impostor syndrome, since I’m just a techie, not an accountant.
Star Wars
Today I took the time to rewatch the original trilogy. After having watched everything Star Wars (sans the Christmas special) in such a short period of time, I feel the original trilogy still holds up well. I must admit that episodes 1-3 were better than I remember, but were still the worst of the bunch. Episodes 7-9 felt a lot more thematically similar to the original.
Tuesday
Work
No, roommate, I do not know everything about everything, no matter what you think. I cannot help you make these two web applications I have no experience with work together. Here, let me google that for you and send you a link to a tutorial video that may or may not help. Maybe ask the intern who I believe actually made it work before . . .
Wednesday
Work
Just a quick trip out to drop off a check. I also did some online stuff, helping the roommate with a mailing. We’re trying to drum up some new clients because our competitors on the island have dropped the ball.
Thursday
Work
Early start, opened up a villa for the housekeepers. Guests coming Saturday, so they gotta get the place in good shape. Just waiting to hear from them to find out what more they need. Luckily, all they needed was direction, no supplies.
Friday
Pools
Pools were damned easy today. Even my nemesis was pretty clear of leaves. I did my usual walkthroughs of the houses. Added a bit of water to a couple pools. That was basically it, no serious cleaning to be done.
Saturday
Work
Guests arrive today. First guests in a long time! Just a couple from a different island. Met them at the dock in the afternoon and took them to their villa. Pretty easy work day for me.
Sunday
Day Off
Just spent the day watching more movies and playing video games. I really should get around to updating my movies page because there’s a lot to add to it.
Monday
Work
Well, I went out to check on a couple houses like I usually do. Then I was heading to pay some bills but along the way I realized it’s a holiday and nothing’s open! So I went home and worked on accounting. I finally finished everything for last month, and added a bunch of stuff in for this month. Gonna go pay those bills tomorrow and hopefully finish up the accounting then.
Tuesday
Work
Well, I did it. I went out and paid bills. It wasn’t as bad as I expected. I also did a bit of shopping. I was finally able to find some muriatic acid! That stuff has been hard to find. Still need testing chemicals though.
Accounting
I finished the accounting for last month. Things are so easy when there aren’t any guests and expenses are minimal, LOL. Now the roommate has to go over the reports and let me know of anything I need to correct.
Wednesday
Work
Fuck, things are supposed to be easy! Then the roommate goes and gets us bookings. Deeply discounted stays for locals. I mean, I guess the income helps but I really don’t want to do all the work. Worst part is last minute things that are left in flux. I need definites, not maybes.
Gardening
YAY! My first tomato is growing. At the moment it is just a tiny little green ball the size of a pea, but it’s something. This is the tomato plant that was dying that I cut the stem off and replanted. I wasn’t sure it would even live, but now it’s starting to bear fruit and there’s more flowers coming still.
Thursday
Work
So, last minute booking for a discounted staycation. Had to service my nemesis. Spent a good long while giving that pool a serious cleaning. In the end, I won like I always do. The handyman and housekeeper have been working hard getting it ready.
I had to run out and re-activate one of the internet boxes for the guests too. Then I had to go and meet the guests. It really wasn’t too bad. They rented a car, I led them to the house, showed them around. Then I was done for the day and completely exhausted.
Pool Day (Friday)
Sleep
Ugh, did not sleep well last night. Actually, I haven’t been sleeping to well at all recently, but last night was worse than normal. Didn’t help that power went out just as I laid down. It was so hot! Luckily, it wasn’t off for too long. But the frustration made sleeping so much harder.
Pools
It was an interesting pool day today. Two less pools that usual, my nemesis was done yesterday, and we have guests at my old house on the beach. Figure I’ll let them be and deal with the pool after they leave.
That left only three pools to service. They all needed water, it’s been so hot and dry lately. I was actually able to get some chemicals so that’s different. I also made sure to give each one of the three pools an extra-good service. Mostly because we might actually be getting people in these houses soon.
Day Off (Saturday)
Limitless
So I re-watched the movie Limitless, loved it as expected. But that got my thinking about the TV series, so I began watching it. Binge watching it. All weekend long.
Sunday
Work
I was supposed to meet some people to show a house, but they cancelled at the last minute. I did have to go check on another house as well. The guests left and I wanted to make sure all was good. No big issues, so back to Limitless.
