Pool Queue

Wednesday

The day was supposed to be a wash, literally. They predicted rain all day from a tropical wave that never came. Instead there was a couple of light sprinkles that lasted all of five minutes. Luckily, the lack of rain allowed us to do some work we had written off.

We ran a few errands. Picked up tickets for the upcoming Taste of Virgin Gorda, a celebration of food from around the island. Later, we met up with the villa owner again, discussed all kinds of things going on there. Other than that though, it was a very slow day filled with reading.

Yesterday

What to say? Well, we went over to one of our villas in an effort to get it ready for an arrival. We’ve got a travel blogger coming to check it out and help us advertise. This is actually going to be the first time anyone has ever stayed in that villa other than the owners. It’s brand new on the rental market.

We also had an arrival too, our first real guests of the season. Things are starting off slow, but that’s good. Soon we’ll have a lot more guests coming and going. Rental season is coming.

Today

Pool day! Ugh. Well, I’ve now learned how to service pools. I ran around with a friend in the pool business here on the island. I learned all about testing and balancing pool chemicals. There really isn’t too much to it, the kits all contain instructions about how to do it. I also learned how to clean a pool. It’s pretty much what you expect. Scrub and vacuum, nothing more.

I spent a good long while learning though. We made our way across the entire island and serviced 11 pools. It was hard work and by the time I was back home I was exhausted. I even went to bed earlier than normal.
