Advertising
So I’ve been spurred a bit internally to get back onto the advertising bandwagon since yesterday. Part of putting together that outline yesterday got me thinking about options and strategies. I’ve looked into costs associated with different things. Compared actual ads on social media vs just promoting content. Did more research into social media best practices and options.
Right now, our Twitter presence is nearly non-existent. Basically all I’ve got setup is automated tweeting of our posts from Facebook and Instagram. But I realized that an idea I had for Facebook promotions would be perfect for Twitter since it’s not possible on Facebook.
Right now our Facebook presence is stagnating a bit. We haven’t been posting nearly as much as we should. Back when I first got here I was posting every few days. Recently, there just hasn’t been a lot to share on a regular basis. I need to come up with a simple, repeatable idea for Facebook. Suggestions?
When I first came here we were growing like crazy. The roommate was posting nearly everyday to Instagram. That has since stopped and needs to be fixed. Maybe I should make it my part of my daily routine (or maybe a weekly thing) to go take a picture somewhere on the island. It’ll be a lot easier to do now that I have my own transportation.
Our company Pinterest is garbage. Mostly because I have no idea what I’m doing. I’m having a hard enough time focusing on the other three social media sites that I just can’t be bothered to even try. Maybe once I get a good flow with the others I’ll dig deeper into Pinterest.
Strategy
Maybe I’m thinking about it all wrong. What is my goal? Obviously, I want more people to book their vacation rental with us. That’s a great goal overall, but we’re not positioned properly yet on all fronts. With all of that in mind, I’ve decided on a couple of things that I will REALLY try hard to do.
First and foremost, I will make a weekly post to Twitter. For now, the goal will just be to grow. We have a handful of followers, so marketing to them will get us nowhere. How do you grow? Engagement! Put simple content out there that will get people talking, thinking, and clicking. What’s better for that than a poll?
Second, weekly Instagram posts. I think I need to start taking my camera out with me when I do pools. Drive more than just to do the pools, hit the beach, find some good shots. Maybe I need to do more than that though. We’ll see how things go for now with that in mind. The only real issue I have though is the truck can get hot and I don’t want to damage my camera.
Finally, I guess I’ll just keep doing what I’ve been doing with Facebook. Keep posting anything relevant I find there. Push our villas as needed to the audience. In the long run I will need to keep researching and coming up with ideas on what I can do with Facebook and Pinterest. I really wish the Reddit digital marketing slack channel hadn’t died out so quickly, they’d really be helpful here.
Minecraft
Taking a break from strategizing my social media stuff I picked back up where I left off in Minecraft. I didn’t realize exactly how big an undertaking it is tearing down a guardian temple. Glad I don’t have to bother with clearing the whole ocean. Even with efficiency V and aqua affinity it’s still going to be a while before I’m done. I’ve got nearly a double chest full of blocks and gone through half a diamond pick with unbreaking.
