BVI Food Fete
November is a big month in BVI. It hosts a series of festivities to celebrate food and drink throughout the islands called the BVI Food Fete. And today was the day for Taste of Virgin Gorda! This is going to be the sixth annual celebration of everything Virgin Gorda.
Taste of Virgin Gorda
The festivities started strong at 6pm. The lawn of Toad Hall was setup to amaze. Local restaurants and chefs were positioned around serving samples of their work. The stage was alive with local musicians entertaining the crowd. And the scene was lit with tiki torches and fairy lights.
The people were all warm and welcoming and happy to tell you all about what they had to show. The food was amazing, of course. There were samples of Lobster Brioche and sushi from Cocomaya; fish, chicken, and shrimp dishes from Fischers Cove; and sushi, baked brie, and ribs from Bath and Turtle.
There were local celebrity chefs serving other dishes as well such as an amazing lobster risotto, pulled pork, and a traditional Christmas dish of pasteles from Puerto Rico.
The BVI tourism board was offering free wine samples with commemorative plastic wine glasses to take home. There was even a booth with samples of new juice drinks available that students had created.
Overall, the atmosphere was great and the food was amazing. As the evening progressed, the crowd grew and the MC toured all the booths talking to the chefs gathered there showcasing everything they’ve done.
