Morning
I’m back to walking in the morning again. It’s a struggle. On one hand I know I need to do it, and I do enjoy it. But on the other hand I hate getting up so early. The problem is, the morning is the only time cool enough to go walking.
The air was calmer than usual, much less breeze. The birds were out in force and noisier than ever. I think I even got close to one’s nest, it was squawking constantly and watching me very closely.
I got lucky this morning, my shower was warm! Usually the temperature is barely on the tolerable side of cold. But today I could actually feel that there was some heat in the water. Mind you, the water still never got hot, but it was much nicer than what I’ve gotten used to.
Which Theme Is Best Theme
I’m back looking at WordPress themes again today. I was told I should look into Avada, and it looks brilliant. The pricing options seem strange though, it’s either $60 or nearly $3000? The wording in the license isn’t clear, “in a single end product which end users can be charged for.”
After reading the in-depth license I understand now that I don’t have to worry about that, it just means the site itself. As in, charging visitors to use the site. Doesn’t matter that I’m selling a service on the site itself.
The other thing is that Avada seems to have its own page builder. I wish I could play with it before having to spend the money to buy it. The theme is very versatile though and the builder seems pretty straightforward.
I think I’m going to play with the themes I’ve already downloaded to see what I can do before I shell out the cash. First up is ParallaxSome, the free version only let’s the slider auto-fill with content from the blog, not what I want at all. The pro version includes a few premium plugins, including Slider Revolution, and costs $32. Let’s move on.
Next up is Cressida, and it’s broken. PHP errors in the theme customizer which carry over into the live site. I’m not even gonna bother with this one. On to Gaga Corp, once again, slider is just for blog posts! I guess this is a common thing among themes. I just want to create custom sliders that have an image, a bit of text, and a button to take them to a specific page.
After that comes Gaga Lite, I’m sure I’ll have the same issues with this one. . . Yup, NEXT! This theme basically seems to be the exact same thing as Gaga Corp, no idea what’s different.
Maybe Hueman will be better? So far things seem to be better, but I can’t find the slider options. This theme does seem like I could make it work, but it still isn’t quite what I want. I really want that slider dammit, lol.
I’m back to playing with Master Business again and I remember why I gave up on that one so quickly. Even though the slider has nearly the exact options I want, it doesn’t seem to work. Like, the slider doesn’t appear at all no matter what I do.
PakWall is like a lot of the rest, has a slider, but will only let you pick blog content to display in it. Radon is the same way. And finally I come to Winsome. This one is like Master Business, a slider with decent features, but I can’t get it to actually show! I wonder if there’s something I’m missing that these two themes require. Nope, no signs of anything missing.
That’s it, that’s all the themes I have to test with. I’m really starting to think I may just purchase Avada. At the very least I might be able to put it here instead, I’m not super happy with the options of my current theme and builder combos. I feel like that could be a really good one, and it seems to be really popular. But I worry that if I buy it and build with it on the test site I won’t be able to transfer it to the live site though.
It does seem that the purchase of the theme also includes a couple premium plugins. I’m still discussing it with the guy who suggested it to me. Hopefully he can answer a few questions because he seems to be really familiar with it. I’m really happy I found the Reddit Digital Marketing group. We’ve got a Slack workspace with over 70 people in it currently. They’ve helped me immensely with my marketing practices for the company site.
Out and About
On the way to the dock the roads were insane, cars parked on both sides of the road, only enough room for one lane, and there was a lot of traffic.
We’re here to pick up a piece of glass for Somoya. It is the last thing we need to complete repairs on that villa. Of course there’s no good parking available.
After waiting for nearly half an hour, the ferry finally showed up. It feels like every time we have to meet the boat it’s late. I’m sure service will eventually return to the way it was.
Afterwards we ran by to pick up a cushion from the local seamstress. Then we stopped in at Digicel to see if they knew why our credit card machine wasn’t working, but everything was okay with the account.
Afternoon
Bath and Turtle for lunch today, yum! Can’t wait to chow down on some creole snapper with mashed potatoes. As always, the food was amazing, although I wasn’t expecting so many tiny bones.
We ran by Christiana Villa to check on the maids and drop off the pillow, then went to the Hunter house to look into the pool situation. You see, the pool has this overflow trough for circulation, and it needs to have a certain level of water in it for the pumps to function properly. When we got there, it was empty, and of course there was no city water.
So we had to drop a pump into the cistern to get more water in the pool. Unfortunately the nearest outlet is not close, and the homeowners don’t keep the required extension cords anywhere that makes sense. We’ve got that running now, and in a couple hours our maintenance guy will stop by to turn it all off.
Looks like we’ll have to get water delivered out there because city water just isn’t working and both cisterns are pretty low. But at least the pool’s trough is at a good level for the time being. We may be able to get someone to do something about city water for us though, I guess we’ll just have to see.
Evening
I played some more Minecraft. I’ve added 30 more doors to my villager breeder, they hadn’t made any babies since I moved them. Almost immediately after adding the doors, two new little ones! I have a librarian I need to trade with, but have no sugar cane, so I’m expanding my farm a bit (at least temporarily). Did you know you can bone meal it? I didn’t realize that was possible in Bedrock Edition!
I was hoping I could cheat a bit and use a dungeon finder app online to locate a nearby skeleton dungeon, but unfortunately they don’t seem to be updated for Bedrock Edition. Then I went and wasted nearly two stacks of sugar cane by accidentally turning it into sugar instead of paper, ugh.
Pretty sure I’ll keep this librarian, he’s got Respiration III. Maybe I should try to keep one of each of the best books, have like an entire hall of dedicated to librarians. Eventually I’ll re-organize my villagers, once I have an idea of how many I’m going to actually have. Get one of each of the best trades that I want.
For dinner tonight the roommate and I worked together to make a chicken pesto pasta dish. I grilled the chicken, she prepared the sauce. It turned out perfectly, the chicken was cooked just right and the sauce was amazing. Dusty absolutely loved the chicken bits I fed her too. She’s such a sweet pupper.
After dinner we had a conference call with my brother and his wife to discuss the business. We talked about the plan for an account as well as other things coming up and the plans we have for the near future. They’re still planning on coming for about a week around Thanksgiving.
And once again I capped my evening off with a couple YouTube videos from Guude.
